Lulu is in the hospital for kidney failure. She JUST turned two. I don't understand why this is happening but I am so upset. The dr called me and left a message last night. He said he just got her blood results in and that is was URGENT we bring her in right that second to flush out her system because her kidneys were failing.

I was walking a stupid dog at the time.. thank god michael was home!! So he ran her to the vet and 6-7 people were waiting for her. They put her on the table and started hooking up IV's.. they had to get a urine sample from her too and she just layed there so sweetly and shook. Michael said she gave him a lick when he went to kiss her goodbye.

He called me to tell me he dropped her off and i thought for sure she was dead because he was sobbing so hard. :(

He said the DR. had to open the door for him because he couldnt see from crying. I sobbed all night long. Thinking for sure she wouldn't make it through the night. I hardly slept at all and shot up awake and 7am to go and see her. As soon as they unlocked the door at 8 we walked in. She was in a cage looking at us with her big doe eyes and her ears back. She looked good!

Much better than last night when she was quivering and convulsing and crying. The lady said she just walked her and she wouldnt poop or pee but she saw her drinking and eating a bit. They said we could walk her. We took her out and her dr. came walking up. She wiggled at him! We were so happy she was wiggling again.

Her dr. said that was a very good sign to see her perky. She of course pooped and peed for us :) We took her back in and wanted to hook her back up to the IV. She immediately started to make a bed in her cage. She kept trying to get under her blanket Michael took for her. She was trying so hard she rubbed her lip raw on the towel in her cage and it started bleeding :(

I hope they took care of that. We are going to go see her again right now. I am just so distraught. She has to stay there for 5 days!! I have no idea what's after the 5 days? Will she be able to live with out an IV pumping through her? I dont care if I have to go give her 100$ weekly shots. I will to keep her alive. I just hope there is a solution....

I can't imagine life with out my Lulu Belle.
I am feeling: hopefulhopeful

Thank goodness!!!!

If you have a huge vet bill and don't have enough $$$ you should leave your paypal address on your journal or Boston Buddies. I'll send you some money and I'm sure others will as well.

Poor Lulu - we hope she starts feeling better soon.

G says that it's either acute or chronic and the acute is what they're hoping for

She's beautiful
Awwww, poor baby! I sure hope she will be okay. I remember when my Lady Bug had to spend several days at the vet for getting poisoned out in a cotton field. She was touch and go for awhile and I cried until I knew she was okay. I know some of what you are going through and my thoughts are prayers go out to you and your dog.

what happened with your mom's dog?
Barbarakicksav29 on July 8th, 2007 03:21 am (UTC)
She was in the hospital for a few days and eventually came home. She was on special foods for the rest of her life, and had to have some sort of shots. A couple years later, when she was 12, she went into full blown kidney failure and didn't make it....but she also had liver problems and kidney problems due to her racing (she was a rescued greyhound).

But we are holding out for the best for little LuLu Bell!
