i just need someone to listen to me
i feel sick. just utterly ill.
my dog elliott & my brother's chihuahua lola were both attacked today around 8pm by a rottweiler. my mom was walking lola ahead of my stepdad, who had elliott, and they were passing a wood fence where the other dog started to bark. lola, always in everyone's business, started barking back and as they passed there was one board at the bottom of the fence missing.. and lola put her face by it and the dog snatched her. my stepdad was pulling on her legs, which were pretty much all that was sticking out, and her harness. the rottweiler had a grip on her tiny neck and pretty much had lola but thankfully my stepfather was able to pull her back to the other side. she had a huge gash on her neck, blood vessells sticking out, she went limp once my stepdad was able to get her..
my mom at this time was banging on the front door of the house to see if they would get their dog.. even though there were two cars parked in the driveway no one ever came to the door. a truck who was driving by stopped and a couple of people (who my parent's happened to know) who were out for a walk stopped to help.
once lola was free elliott was wanting to defend his cousin and he too stuck his head in the hole and that's when the dog tore a chunk out of his cheek. yes not the smartest thing but he wanted to help. they rushed lola to the emergency vet where she got several sutures along the gash on her neck and one by her eye where the dog had got her. elliott is okay.. but since his wounds were less severe we're taking him to the vet tomorrow.
i made my mom call the police who referred us to animal control. of course they can't do anything since the rottweiler's were on their side of the fence.. even though it snatched lola and tried to take it to his side. tomorrow animal control will stop by to check to make sure that the dog is up to date on their shots.. if not they'll get a citation.. if so all they can tell them is to get the fence fixed. this house is across the street from an elementary school and i know people walk on the sidewalk with kids.. so it's scary to think what might happen if a child were to get hurt. i wish more could be done. i feel so awful because she's a small dog and it's my brother's who has left her in OUR CARE and we're not even sure how to tell him. he lives 5 hours away :(
so please, after all this story, keep lola and elliott in your thought's please.
