he's a 1[or so] year old, 10 lb, boston terrier/chinese crested mix. i recently adopted him from wonderdog rescue in san francisco.
he came from an animal hoarder in new mexico. they had a bunch of bosties and cresteds running around, and this little guy was the outcome of that mess. he's still very shy. i've been trying to find out more info about him from the original spca that received him.
he reminds me of a sullen teenager, he lays around all day, basking in the sun, chewing on bully sticks and staring at me. with a large yard to play in, he choses to sit in the sun.
i've got pretty bad pet allergies, but beef doesn't bother me. he has short terrier hair that sheds, a hairless underside, forward facing canines, and a musky doggie scent.
i hope that when the weather warms up, he will too. i'm familiar with the energy level of boston terriers, but this little guy is so calm and reserved, it's almost disappointing, almost depressing. he doesn't bark. he has whined twice. he hasn't attacked any shoes, or dirty socks or dirty underwear. he's not much for cuddling, though he will lay next to you if you're in the sun.
when i first saw him, at the pet store for the adoption, he wasn't interested in playing with the other dogs, the ones that he had been living with for a while. i hope he'll open up and trust people a little more.
when i come home, he wags his tail and trots around the house with "excitement". if i leave the room, he will come searching for me, sniffing and sometimes scratching at the door.
he doesn't seem to mind riding with me on bicycles, in messenger bags and panniers. [the basket was only for the photo, it's much too cold right now for that]
