I think perhaps we should make a list of all the common food items that are dangerous to dogs and add it to the memories for easy access. i found some, if anyone knows if any others, please post them. obviously, we should all know by now that dogs should not drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes, or consume bleach and stuff like that, so lets keep the list to food items only.

Avocado
Broccoli (in large amounts)
Chocolate (the darker it is, the more dangerous it is)
Coffee grounds, beans & tea (caffeine)
Fatty foods
Garlic (in large quantities)
Hops (used in home brewing)
Macadamia Nuts
Onions
Pear pips, the kernels of plums, peaches and apricots, apple core pips (contain cyanogenic glycosides resulting in cyanide posioning)
Potato peelings and green looking potatoes
Products sweetened with xylitol
Raisins and grapes
Rhubarb leaves
Salt
Tomato leaves & stems (green parts)
Yeast dough

some of those aren't that common to me (hops, rhubarb leaves) but they may be common to someone else so i think its important to list it.

i know joey made a PSA about grapes and macadamia nuts a while back. perhaps he or bentley or another dog that is crafty in photoshop can make a cute graphic with the finished list so we can post it in the info (instead of in the memories where it might be forgotten)?

Somone had posted a link a while back to a page with plants that are also poisonous. I think it was the Azalea blooms? These might be helpful also.

And here's a list of posonous plants.

Eeep! I tried to give Winston a little piece of broccoli the other day and he refused it. Perhaps he already knew that he shouldn't be eating it!
Smart lil' puppers.

*gasp* I don't get it. My veterinary allergist has Griffin on a venison and vegetable diet and it includes steamed broccoli if I choose. Why would broccoli be bad? Granted, I hardly give it to him because he enjoys carrots, green beans and potatoes much more, but I'd like to know what the deal is with broccoli so I can ask the vet!

Matches. I know they aren't food, but for some reason dogs love to chew them... SUPER poisionous!
