doggie gout?

Geech recently had a UTI (his second) and the vet said that it's possible that he has a build up of crystalized minerals in his urine -- which sounded very similar to gout to me. If that's the case, he said we'll probably have to put him on a special diet. Has this happened to anyone else's pup?
