My, almost 10 month old, female boston just went into heat a couple days ago. How long does this last and how soon until it happens again?

She won't wear any form of girly dog diapers, she shreds them if I don't keep her in my site.

I'm kicking myself for not getting her fixed before I had to follow her around with a bottle of oxyclean, cleaning every spot she sits down, gross.
