sutures

My Boston Terrier was spayed a couple months ago and her incision healed completely but it was red and really knotty and bumpy so I took her back to the vet and they said she was having a reaction to the sutures which can take up to 6 months to dissolve. The vet said everything was ok reguardless of her bad reaction to the sutures.

MY QUESTION IS: I want to know if an people here are vets or work at a vets and if you could tell me what dissolvable veterinary sutures look like???

What looked like fishing line popped through her skin where one of the knotty areas where. I thought sutures that do not dissolve look like fishing line. Did my vet screw up? I liked my vet but I'd take her to a new vet if some sort of repair needs to be done to her incision where all that knottiness from the sutures is. I REALLY hate to think they screwed up and left non-dissolvable stuff inside her and even after a look at how it healed said it was ok, am I paranoid?
