Much of the time they chase each other in circles and tug of war on a toy or jump up and down at each other in the garden, which is fine, but every now and again they erupt into pretty vicious growling and biting matches that usually end with him pinning her with a paw on her neck and her biting the crap out of his throat. Gambit doesn't really bite her or hurt her, he just pins her a lot, or rolls her, or knocks her down and out of the way - but she TOTALLY bites the heck out of him. He has red welts all on his lips, neck and legs from her constant bites. She's vicious! I always try to break it up or scoop her up when they do that but it seems to be happening a lot. She'll just go after him like a little hurricane and just bite the heck out of him to the point where he's coming to me because he's upset. I give her time outs and I tell her no and I pick her up but I am afraid she's becoming a real little bully.
Gambit doesn't seem TOO upset by it; usually in a few minutes they'll go right back to each other. But I am concerned that he's getting so chewed up. Puppy teeth are SHARP (I should know, she likes to bite my feet). Her latest trick is to army-crawl under the sofa in the basement and then dart out and bite Gambit's feet or my feet as we walk by. She is really a handful.
So is this normal play? Is there something else I can do to discipline her? I hate to think that their "play" is going to result in serious injury some day.
