biting and other bad behaviours

I have a 2yr old spayed female boston. For the last 8 months or so, she has taken on the bad habit of biting when a person has their back turned to her. She is increasingly difficult to get to go outside, where she will just stand and bark and lunge (bounce?) at whoever is out there with her. We have tried the nothing in life is free training, crate training, walking her on a leash to go outside and potty. She also still potties in the house, no matter what. She is an only dog, but her first year was spent with two companion bostons who have since died. She escapes every chance she gets and then it's a good three or four hour chase. She never comes when called and I worry about her getting hit by a car.

I am at a loss what to do. The biting is escalating and I am now worried about my grandchildren who live with me. I am so very reluctant to take her to the shelter but worry about my kids.
