For the Chicago Crew...

Eighth Annual PAWS Chicago Run for their Lives 4K Walk/8K Run!!

For those of you in Chicago, we are looking for participants to join our team - Friends of Phineas - or donate to this important cause!  We adopted Phineas from PAWS Chicago on June 6, 2006 and he's been a blessing in our home.  He homeless, malnourished and scared when someone found him and brought him into PAWS; one week later he was the newest member of our family!  As the adoptive owners of a homeless pet, this cause is particularly important to us; we do not want to have any more organizations that call themselves humane kill another animal because they were homeless or could not be placed with a new family.  Please read the following and make a donation to our team if you are able or join the team if you wish!  Thank you!

On Sunday, September 28, 2008, I will be participating in the Eighth Annual Run for Their Lives 8K Run/ 4K Walk to benefit PAWS Chicago. I invite you to support this event by joining in my belief that no dog or cat should be destroyed just because he or she is homeless. All runners and walkers will work to raise money to support PAWS Chicago’s targeted spay/neuter, innovative adoption and community outreach programs.

For years, pet overpopulation has been managed by the killing of homeless pets. There is a better way!

Founded in 1997, PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving) Chicago is the city's largest non-profit, no-kill humane organization. PAWS Chicago envisions a no-kill Chicago--a city in which no pets are destroyed just because they are homeless. In 1997 more than 800 homeless cats and dogs were being killed in Chicago every week, totaling a staggering 42,561 deaths that year alone. Through high-profile events and public awareness campaigns, PAWS Chicago put a face on this once hidden problem, and results were immediately visible. Since the founding of PAWS Chicago the killing rate of homeless animals in Chicago has been reduced by half.

Please help give Chicago’s homeless pets the lives they deserve. Please help support my efforts to raise money for PAWS Chicago. Together, we can build a no-kill Chicago!

Please visit this website to donate to Friends of Phineas!!

If you'd like to join the team, please visit that website and click on "registration" on the left side and then click "Join Team;" the team name is Friends of Phineas.
