Has anyone here had any experience with Bostons and larger dogs? And I'm talking LARGE dogs! A very huge Rottweiler has come to live with us on a temporary (a we'll-see) basis. He's kind and gentle and, quite frankly, a bit too submissive. I have four Bostons with varying degrees of reaction to him from (1) completely ignoring; (2) a bit afraid; (3) constantly challenging him; and (4) total adoration (the smallest Boston adores him...go figure).

But I'm having second thoughts about keeping him around. For one thing, he's just SOOO much bigger (125-130 pounds). Also, he seems a bit overwhelmed at times by their constant energy. I'm afraid that one of these days he might get so irritated with them that he'll go too far and hurt one of them.

He's a great guy who has a potential other home with another Rottweiler. Maybe that would be a better match? What do y'all think?

I have a boston with a Chocolate lab, its not a Rottweiler obviously but still a big dog. They're best friends. As long as there is no hostilities you should be ok.
I give you the images I know.weiterate on May 23rd, 2004 10:55 pm (UTC)
Lunchbox lived with a Great Dane AND two yorkies AND two cats, in the same house.

She had the time of her life, occasionally hanging on for dear life as she humped, mid-air, the horse of a dog we called Cosmo. I would let her live with a big dog again in a minute. As long as the big one is not hostile or easily annoyed, let them enjoy the company of the other. :)

My parents own a good sized Golden retriever named Charlie..

When I brought Zeke home for the first time to visit (at 9 wks old) They had a blast! I couldn't believe the balls Zeke had! he would jump up and bite Charlie's face, tail, feet, ect. ect. But Charlie didn't mind at all. He seemed very curious about the new little alien. ha ha

I have pictures of the two, if I can ever figure out how to post them :)
