Hey everyone -

I noticed that bella has what appears to be an allergic reaction going on in her umm...lady bits. It doesn't seem to bug her at all right now, but it doesn't look pleasant at all! They almost look like zits or something.

I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else out here and to see what action they took.

It almost looks like she squatted down to pee in an ant pile or on a weed she was allergic to. I've already taken action like I would with any other allergic reaction, but it hasn't been long enough to notice any difference. Again, she doesn't seem like it's bugging her at all.

Thanks for your time, and if it doesn't clear up by tomorrow, i'll take her to the vet.

I will! She had a similar situation like a year and a half ago when she literally PEED on an ant hill. Of course they were pissed...she got a few bites, but they didn't swell up so much. This was when I lived in AZ and I'm now in MN.

lol thank you:) we got them for her bc we got a puppy boston that just couldnt keep her paws off of emo's eyes, but luckily the puppy grew out of htat so emo doesnt have to wear the doggles anymore, she hated them!

poor baby!!

Molly's been bit by ants but it never swelled like that...give her some benadryl, maybe if it's just an allergic reaction that will help...as long as she's peeing ok I think you'll be ok until you can get her too a vet.

Poor little girl! :(

Hmm...poor thing! I feel like Violet had a similar issue when she was rolling around, but it could just be me. I would obviously suggest Benadryl...since you posted this a little bit ago, have you noticed any change? I think if it was bothering her I would be more concerned but I do have to agree it could just be an allergic irritation.
Keep us updated!

things seem better this morning, and it's still not bugging her (Unless if I mess with it, which she hates to be fussed over!)

I'll keep you guys updated!

I know everyone's suggesting benadryl, which is fine if it actually is an allergic reaction. I'm thinking infection though. It's fairly common for some female dogs to get vulvar infections. Some dogs are actually built a little wrong in that area and have too many or too deep vulvar folds trapping bacteria. It's similar to how bulldogs get infections in the folds in their faces. There is a surgery to correct this in dogs with frequent recurring infections called a vulvarplasty. I hope it is just an allergic reaction, but if it does not go away I would bring her to the vet for antibiotics.

I'm actually leaning toward allergic reaction, too since it just seemed to pop up yesterday after we were playing around in my boyfriend's yard. It's good to get other opinions just in case so I know what to expect. It seems to be doing much better today, so I'm not too worried.

Thanks for the advice!!

Donut Butt
I've seen a boy dog with a doughnut butt from testosterone but never anything like that! Hope she feels better today!
