Does any one else's dog get a bit nippy when they get excited? I felt really horrible that our neighbor went to pet Cole the other day and he knicked her. Her dog was behind her and he was really excited. It was just a little scrape bit still.

Marley does. When she gets overly excited she tends to mouth on your fingers but sometimes it hurts.

I always feel bad when he does it. He is the sweetest little guy but when there is another dog around or he gets excited someone always gets to feel his teeth.

are people ok when it happens? i dont feel as bad if its family but when he does it to strangers i feel horrible. especially when he brings a toy to you he lunges for it when you go to grab it and can sometimes draw blood.

right now my thumb is black from a game of fetch the ball..I should have let go sooner LOL...he has only bit my daughter's boyfriend, thumb like me, Rebel will jump and fly thru the air and if a body part is in the way you might get bit. he doesn't go around many strangers and I would tell them "he can bite when excited"

i hope your thumb feels better :-) I have to start telling everyone that he can be nippy, as of now I have only been mentioning it when a child wants to pet him. He was great around my nieces and nephew but that was 2 yrs ago since he was last there because I have since moved.
Is that him in your user pic?
Sheri: REBEL JABBAbooksaremyhabit on September 15th, 2009 09:48 pm (UTC)
yes, that's him lol
he's a splash..more white then black and he's big, around 28, 30lbs
he's also emo dog..very very sensitive..overly so, but he's so so cute and funny..I also have Tinkerbell, she's a 13 year old boston and a Frenchie, he's almost 2. Rebel is 7

oh yes, i've seen hog and clem on here. they are beautiful! Rebel is certainly one of the biggest Bostons I have seen, my sis has one and he is only 25lbs. Cole is 20 and on the small side, odd because he was a large puppy in the litter, he will be 4 in Oct. He is 90% black with little white, kinda the reverse of Rebel :-)
I've always wanted a Frenchie, what are they like?
Sheri: G and Hog glamour shootbooksaremyhabit on September 15th, 2009 10:05 pm (UTC)
Slugger is my Frenchie, and we always wanted one too....HOWEVER if I had it to do over I wouldn't get him because he wants to kill Rebel now.
He was fine until about a year old and then he started fighting him at every chance..after I got bit really bad breaking up a fight, and Rebel got hurt my husband and I realized that they have to stay apart 24/7.
I've had two trainers...didn't help. They both said "it's the bulldog in him" so now I have to just live my life totally different, always managing the dogs..in kennels, crates, rooms..etc..it sucks. I love Slugger now and he's a great dog except for this one thing.

Poor thing, that stinks that he doesnt get along anymore. I think thats my fear if we ever get another dog. My bf only wants Bostons now, this is my first dog and his first Boston. Cole has only had 3 friends in his entire life to pal around with but these days its not even worth letting him sniff another dog because he will start acting crazy and some owners are touchy. Is he ok with the older dog? If you look to the left of the page here with the dogs pics you can see Cole eating his icecream :-)
Sheri: TINK WATCHING G SKIbooksaremyhabit on September 15th, 2009 10:14 pm (UTC)
LOL, I love that icecream pic
Tinkerbell is totally in charge of both males (they are all fixed and always have been) even though she really can't see or hear anymore she's still top dog haha.
Slugger acts aggressive to all dogs pretty much, except Genevieve's dogs..he gets along with them..Rebel is the only dog he tries to fight.

Thanks! I figured he should get the icecream that I cant eat. LOL
Thats too cute she is the boss :-) Does Rebel defend himself when he is picked on? I read in this behavior article that not all dogs have the genetic make up to socialize peacefully with other dogs as they mature past puppy hood.
Cole is very dominant even though he is fixed. There was one dog he never ever showed aggression towards and it was so cute when we walked him and he would see his friend.

yes, Rebel fights back hard, and they both end up bleeding..it's awful
