(no subject)

The other day I was at the mall with my little hamface Skeeter (see pics from the earlier post). We went there because there's a lovely little park right around the corner and my boy was in the mall buying some shoes yadda yadda yadda.

Anyway, a younger guy was so excited to see Skeet and started talking (and talking and talking) and talking (and talking) about his three little BT girls. He was asking me about where I bought Skeeter, and I explained that I had adopted him yadda yadda yadda. He told me how he paid $500 for two of his girls and $200 for the other because she had mange (sweet). He went on and on (and on and on) about how Skeeter would have cost at least $700 from a breeder because of his "unusual colorings" (he is a dark dark only noticeable in the sunshine brown and black brindle with only a small patch of white running from his chin to his boy-parts, and a small stripe down the front of his head), and he would not shut up about how expensive he would have been from a breeder, and that he had once contacted someone about an all black boston boy who was $1200, but couldn't afford it or some crap.

The question is not "how many annoying people do you meet per day", but rather, True or False, is it really such that Skeeter's markings and colorings would make him more costly through a breeder?

I firmly believe in adopting, and have no idea how the intricacies of the breeder and purchasing of dogs world works, but I am mildly curious as this isn't the first time I've gotten comments on how "pricey" such an usually colored BT would be.

I know many people in this community have gotten their hams from breeders, and I'm wondering if it's the truth?! Not that, by any means it would make me love him more or anything, I'm just really wondering if it's true, or if everyone is stupid (which seems more likely to me), as I was always under the impression that brindle translated into defective. Ha.

worms in the poo

i'm sorry i couldn't find a thread on worms.. so please forgive this post but i'm concerned. i don't remember much about worms. my brother has a boston and he said yesterday he noticed worms in her poo. how do dogs even get worms? she's an inside dog that lives in an apartment so i don't understand how she got them since she's only outside to potty.

i told him to take her to the vet ASAP & get her on some med's.

Richmond meetup?

From the meetup post below, I navigated to the Boston Meetup groups and found one for Richmond, where I live. I know another person in this community mentioned the Richmond meetups but I forgot who it was! Anyway, there is one coming up this Saturday and I'm so excited to meet more Bostie moms and dads. So whoever you were that lives in Richmond - post a comment and hopefully my husband, Griffin and I will get to meet you this weekend! It would be great to have a good turnout!
