rant
Why do people feel the need to give their input about MY dog?! We all know that Bostons can have some energy but so what! We obviously picked the breed for a reason right? So why is it that just because my dog has energy people constantly insinuate that he isn't well trained?! Just because he has energy doesn't mean he doesn't listen to me. I'm so sick of people who don't even own a dog telling me that my dog isn't trained. He doesn't chew, go to the bathroom in the house, bite, bark, etc. He can be left alone for a few hours with NO issues. So stop telling me that just because he has energy that he's "untrained" UGH. /rant

does anyone else get this from non-boston owners?!

I was told my female has "bad manners" because she runs to the door to sniff (not bark or bite or jump) on whoever comes in. I was like, really?? If you reach down and pet her, YES, she will jump and never leave you alone EVER.. but if you dont want the attention dont touch my damn dog. She lives here, not you. Thats basically what I tell people. haha.

Aww. I haven't personally gotten crap for this, but I imagine people have said similar things about my BT when I'm not around. Bostons tend to be very excitable, and people who aren't overly fond of dogs usually equate that with being "untrained." Luckily, I hang out with a lot of "dog people" (even fellow Boston owners!) who totally get it and love it. I'm sorry if people have been less than understanding about your dog--he is adorable and they don't know what they're missing!

Yep, I get this all the time, even from my sister when she comes to visit. It's so irritating. It's in the breed's nature to be energetic and playful, I don't know why people don't understand that.

It's the same thing with having kids kids. Everyone has their own "right" opinion about raising them and you're doing it all wrong. You just have to brush it off your shoulders. I would probably fire back with some kind of sarcastic comment like, "He's better trained than your kids are" or something of that nature.

I love how my brother in law tries to come over and tries to give my dog commands (the wrong ones) and Stig does not listen and then my brother law tries to explain to me how to handle my dog. Then i say the correct command and my dog isntantly listens to me. and then its like um exuse me what were you saying? yeah thats what i thought.
OR
because my dog is well trained (we even have done classes together) I try to explain to people no please do not encourage my dog to jump all over you and they are like nooo its okay i like dogs. and its like well yeah thats great but my dog is not allowed to jump all over people and by you encouraging it then it confuses him.
ahh yeah you hit a nerve... lol

Btw GREAT pictures.

i've actually discovered since getting a dog that i get a lot of unwanted input in general, like all of a sudden you're fair game for everyone's unsolicited advice/opinions/craziness. and yeah, i've heard it's even worse when you have kids! yikes. it's particularly annoying because i understand how sensitive a lot of people are about this topic (understandably), so i go out of my way to NOT make any comments that could be construed to be even the least bit judgmental - but clearly a lot of other people think it's all well and good to be all up in your business. as for my dog's energy/exuberance/independence, i wouldn't even WANT to train that out of her! that's what makes her awesome - i wouldn't want a dog that just sits there placidly all the time, waiting for instruction. and despite all that, she's an awful lot less annoying and yes, better trained than a lot of dogs i know. in short, bostons rule :)

also - love the pics! he is super, super cute.

OMG! I want to kiss your dogs face!!

Ive heard it once about Cole because he didnt listen to my moms bf but he listened to my mom. I got all my training voiced from her so when he stayed with her for a bit he recognized the tone. LOL

I think we all get that from people who have not owned or been owned by a BT...I just blow it off because I know I have the best dog in the world.

Trained compared to???
Daaaawww! Those east-west eyes are so cute!

Don't sweat it. Both of my dogs are mill rescues and I get this all of the time from people who don't 'get it'. One of my dogs doesn't even know its name yet. They can't walk on a leash, one wears a belly bands in the house, they dance instead of 'sit', and did I mention he doesn't know his own name? But we love them anyways!!!
