Our dog has serious allergy issues, so we use a oatmeal baby shampoo (Johnson and Johnson). It's gentle enough to use on her frequently and helps her skin.

Frito
my dog also has serious allergy's. He takes 50mg of Atopica (cyclosporine) everyday which helps A TON!! but its just not good enough. I feel so bad when we are out walking and he has to stop and scratch himself. He also wears tshirts which helps a lot as well.

Re: Frito
I don't think Squirt has allergies *that* bad, but we have her on claritin daily. She does a lot better on it with baths every 2-3 days to wash of the pollen/dander. Every summer her fur starts to fall out and she gets all red and itchy. My husband calls her "buck shot" because her fur falls out in little clumps, so it looks like she got hit with buck shot... haha

I use tropiclean's oatmeal & tea tree oil shampoo on Bella. It does NOT have sodium lauryl sulfate in it (a natural detergent used in a lot of cleansers - shampoos for people & animals AND laundry detergent). SLS strips the skin of its natural oils and can cause itching and allergic reactions.

Here are the ingredients:
Water, avena sativa (oatmeal), organic blend of (yucca schidigera (yucca) extract, carica papaya (papaya) fruit extract, actinidia chinensis (kiwi) fruit extract, aloe barbadensis (aloe) leaf extract), protein, mild coconut cleanser, salicylic acid, parfum/fragrance, tea tree, vitamin E

Between baths, I spray bella with this coat and skin spray with almond oil and brush her. I cannot find the brand (I'm at work now). This has been key, as it's like putting lotion on her. She loves it! She smells really good afterward, too.

My vet also told me adding a little dribble of olive oil to her food will help with dry & itchy skin.

I hope that helps! Those three things worked like a charm for me...Her skin is great and her coat is SUPER shiny now!

the best thing that has helped my dog is to use a apple cider vinegar rinse after his hypo allergenic shampoo! it takes all the itchiness away. it works for people too hahah my friend had bad dandruff and a dry scalp and it cleared it right up!
