Pet Insurance?
This seems like something we should have looked into as soon as we got our little buddy but do any of you have experience with this?

I know bostons have a few congenital and hereditary issues because of the breed so I want to be prepared? Any trusted companies out there that you all use?

I'm a first time boston owner and love my little guy!

any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'd find a reasonable vet first, rather than the scam that is insurance, yelp is a good resource for that.

After listening to a bit on This American Life about pet insurance and looked into it. My dog is older so themonthly cost was more than I was willing to spend, however of the pet insurance places I looked into, I loved trupanion the most.

The big catch is if you can find a good insurance plan. I absolutely love mine but it is only offered in my state (they claim to be coming in other states soon http://www.affordablepetcareplan.com/about.htm). Mine is more like a discount club. I pay once every two years and get a discount at select vets. I usually end up saving more than what it costs just in the annual vet visit but it's comforting knowing I get a discount for the emergency trips and my dog is pretty dumb so there have been a few 4am vet visits.

You might want to go to a few vets and ask what insurance they accept. That might be the best way to find a reputable one and ensure a decent vet accepts the plan.
