Hi gang, I sure miss all you guys. My husband has now been in the hospital for 1 month and in and out of the hospital 16 times and has had four major surgeries since June 28th. Whenever I need a smile I log into our special little community and peek in on all our cute babies. In the next few days I plan on explaining in my personal journal what's been going on but for now I wanted to share something special with all my Boston terrier loving friends.
Since Tom has been in the hospital so long he has really been missing his baby (Winston). All the nurses keep coming up to me and telling me that Tom has been really withdrawn. He keeps the curtains and his door closed all day and all he wants to do is sleep. Everyone is worried that he is getting depressed. The hospital has several service dogs that visit sick people for therapy. Wellllll......a few months ago Tom contracted the Mersa <sp? Staph infection. He is pretty much cleared of that but once a person has that type of staph infection the hospital policy states that the have it forever and certain precautions need to be taken every time a person of hospital staff enters the room. The other day I requested that one of the service dogs visit Tom to perk him up a bit. I was informed that since Tom is in isolation room that the service dogs are not allowed to enter. Thank goodness that I hadn't mentioned this to Tom or it might have made him even sadder.
Now comes the good part.
A few days later I asked the Charge Nurse if it was ok for me to bring Winston up to the hospital for a visit. She thought that was a wonderful idea. She printed out the hospital policy and I did everything that needed to be done. I took him down to the groomer and he got a bath and his cute little toenails clipped. (Normally it would have cost me $15 but the gal that did it wouldn't take my money because I helped her out several years ago when she first started her grooming shop.) After that I took him up to the hospital.
Since it was a special situation I had to take Winston in the back door of the hospital. When we got to the 3rd floor the Charge Nurse checked him for fleas and then allowed us to enter Toms room. OH MY GOODNESS! Winston was so happy to see his daddy. Tom's whole room was filled with nurses and everyone was crying because Tom and Winston were so happy to see each other. Since that day Winston has went to see Tom one more time but every time I walk past the nursing station someone asks me where Winston is. They all adore him just like we all adore "Cornholio" in this community.
I just LOVE this community. If I don't get to write again before the Christmas and New Years, please be safe and give all your babies a kiss on the forehead for me.
</b> sends holiday licks and I send holiday
bair hugs.
