so mad
Well, there goes the pet deposit! Jason had to go on a little trip today to another branch of the company so I decided to go with him. We were gone the same amount of time as a usual working day. Our dear sweet Kermie who has never chewed up anything before (except her own toys) ripped out a hunk of the carpet!!!! It is right along the sliding glass door so I think she just layed there and pulled out carpet! I am so angry! We have taken such good care of the apartment so we could get all of our deposit back but this will cost us :( I guess maybe she was mad/bored since I have been home so much the summer?!?! She is 10 months old what is the deal!! Off to go clean up bits of carpet....

That's rough!

I had a rescue (non-Boston) that did that a few years ago when I was renting a house. I wasn't so mad about a deposit (sorta hadn't told the owner I had a dog) but more because the house was really quaint and it seemed so 'broken' after that.

Does your puppy do OK with being kennelled?

Luckily is isn't to big of a spot!! We previously had been blocking her off in the kitchen but she *normally* is sooooo good we haven't for the past 3 months or so and haven't had any problems!! Oh well...dogs will be dogs I suppose. I just kinda wish she would have chewed up the 8 dollar rug from Target that we have and not the actual carpet! :)

My cat did that before when locked in a room. I think your Kermit needed outside....

perhaps! Although she normally can hold if for as long as we were gone and longer!!...I will have to tell her that I would prefer she just pooped on the floor next time! ha ha :) Oh well, they are too cute to be mad at for long...

oh dear, I need to take a pic of my carpet, we have wall to wall (it's our own home) and Rebel chewed a whole in it! It was the 1st time we had left him alone with Tink (he was just a youngin)

Carson and his big, fat bulldog sister, Lulu, worked together while we were in Hawai'i to eat a hole right in the middle of the carpet in my mom's bedroom since no one was there 24/7, and only dropped in for a few hours a day. She was pretty pissed, but then decided it was a great reason to get wood floors. lol

You should be able to purchase a small strip of carpet to glue down before you move out. I hope you can!!

In our little old apartment before we had dogs, we had our rabbits running about cause they were litter box trained, and well, the apartment was little. Cosmo (RIP) would chew holes in the carpet, and what I did was cut a piece of the carpet from an inconspicuous place, like under the baseboard heaters, and then cut it to match the shape of the hole, then trim it with scissors to be the same length of the carpet around it. It was a pain, but worth it cause our landlord never noticed!

Violet did the exact same thing. My dad had to put a wooden border thingy. We also sprayed things with the Sour Apple spray that you can get at Petsmart. She hasn't been nearly as bad. Now it's things I can easily replace like hangers or a $2 flip flop.

Good luck in the future!

HOME DEPOT OR LOWES
They have that kind of carpet there....it is like standard apartment carpet. Napoleon had a chewing spree in our old place and we got matching carpet and replaced it, got our full deposit back. GL.
I was wrong, it's all my fault.rachel_nicole on July 2nd, 2005 06:17 pm (UTC)
Wow. That looks like something that my dog would do. That's why they stay in the cage while I'm not at home.
