Bubbles update...
Well, I could not leave that
baby at the Mesquite shelter!!! The animals are kept in a concrete room
WITH NO A/C - only fans! There was an 8 week old pit bull and a 10 year
old Boston & Pug that were found together! Someone was there getting
on the list for the Pug (they cannot be adopted until Thursday because there is
a 72 hour waiting period) and there were already two other people, but there was
no one on the list for the Boston! They even look alike, making me think
that they are siblings! I cannot believe they are going to not make them
be adopted out together. They told me that if on Thursday no one shows up
to adopt the boston that the rescue group will be contacted. That is just
so sad. I wish I could take them both --- I said that to them and asked
about if someone shows up to take both would they let them have priority on the
pug so that they would not be separated and they said no! It's just so
depressing.
ANYWAY --- I ended up taking Bubbles to the SPCA in
Dallas. They are also a rescue and the animals stay inside with
them! MUCH better conditions and I know he will be well taken care of for
the mandatory 72 hours and then adopted quickly. I felt ok leaving him
there. MUCH better than with Mesquite. Thank GOD at Mesquite they
make you put them in the cage! I just could not do it and I wanted to take
home every single dog back there. They even had an 8 week old pit
bull. They say they have a no tolerance law for pit bulls and that he was
"unwanted" and will not be allowed to be adopted. If I would
have had a bag I would have smuggled him out, I am serious. It was so sad.
