It's been a while since I posted. Bentley got trampled at the dog park last Saturday. I didn't see it, but Steve said it looked like one of the bigger dogs ( it was a pack of like 5 or 6) practically punched the under-side of his chin as the tromped over him with their big mean paws. He has gotten "rolled" before, where a dog will run over him playfully and he rolls out of it pretty well. This time he didn't fare too well, and by Sunday night he was having breathing problems. He woke me up every hour unable to rest completely without waking with snorting and snotting.
I took him to the vet early Monday, they think he might have injurred his trachea, and may have a kennel cough. So he's on 3 different types of meds $$$. But he's starting to seem a little better. His vet file is pretty big, she mentioned "He's had a rough puppyhod" and I guess he has had a lot of maladies, but I'm also really cautious. He's had and ear infection, tic fever, and then his nuts op, which is a lot for his first 6 months of life. He seems like a happy little dog still and loves his vet.
I hate to think we can't go to the dog park anymore. I heard there's one in Fountain Hills that's got separate areas for big/little dogs, but it's twenty minutes away compared to the 3 blocks away horizon one. I think it's time we just got him a friend to play with. He loves other dogs, and there's a lil open park across the street, it's just not fenced in and while there's an uphill climb to the road area, He just seems too curious.
Here's some of his woeful looks:
He is a lot better now, but can't socialize again until he's off his meds, just in case he has kennel cough. poor guy.
