Remebering Sam

Probably 11 or 12 years ago there was a story in Good Housekeeping (I think) titled "Remembering Sam."  I can't remember the author, but it was a very moving account of living in a house after a pet had died.  I've been looking for it on the web without much luck to give to a friend.  Does anyone have by chance a link to the story? or remember it?  I know I have it hanging on the wall at my childhood home, but I don't get there very often anymore.  I can remember one part from it clearly; "Sam was no wonder dog.  He had no tricks to speak of."

Anyway just curious if anyone knows what I'm talking about or might know where I could find a copy.
