The billionth Kylie post (I'll stop soon I swear)
I cannot sing the praises of clicker training enough. Kylie has already learned sit, down, and we're working on crawl and shake. (Crawl is hilarous!) She LOVES clicker training and never wants me to stop! Also, she's been doing Cornholio-esque scooting around on the carpet and on the carpet cat condo, not to mention the grass. Anywho, I just have a question for everyone. How old were your babies when they lost their puppy teeth? Everywhere I've been reading says five months, so I'm guessing so. Also, has anyone tried to put baby or toddler sweatshirts on their puppies as a cheap alternative to doggie sweaters? I wonder what size (10 pound) Kylie would wear in toddler clothes. Anyone have any idea? Thanks :) And here's a pic of Kylie in her

Bat dog! Sorry for the crappy quality

Spoiled Kylie has a bad cuz (thanks to Joey making her want one :P), a kong, and a puppy kong bone in addition to like 20 other toys

Cornholio wears Walmart baby sweatshirts with the sleeves cut off instead of all expensive doggie shirts. He is 10 lbs and wears a size 12months. :)

Darnit, I KNEW I should have gone with clicker training. Charlie needs some obedience lessons FAST. Hopefully Petsmart will help with that (school starts Oct. 27!).

Awww, cute, adorable little Kylie....Charlie has been working on a love letter for days now. :)

Clicker is the best. You should do it! It's sooo easy to get them to do what you want! And Kylie LOVES clicker training.

what is clicker training?
fairweathrsmile on October 18th, 2005 05:38 pm (UTC)
Clicker training is an obedience or trick training. You can buy a clicker at Petsmart, like this one. Let's say you're trying to teach Lulu to sit. You put her in the sit position while saying "sit" and once she's in that position you click the clicker as soon as her butt hits the floor and then quickly give her a treat. She learns to associate the click with a positive reward (a treat) and quickly learns that in order to get the yummy treat she has to do what you ask. Kylie learned sit in about 10 minutes once she learned the click was a good thing :)

very cool! i have never heard of it before

It's sooooo easy and awesome. I was a little skeptical, but now I recommend it for sure. I heard it was how they trained all the puppies in the live version of 101 Dalmations, so I figured I'd give it a shot lol

Boo to Carson being deaf. :(

You can utilize a brief flash of light (from a laser pointer or flashlight) instead of the click for training sessions with a deaf dog. Also there are remote control collars that will vibrate briefly (in place of the click), but good luck finding one of those.

She is such a cute girl! The other day, I was at K-mart and they had some really cute fleece shirts for under $7. I considered one for Dez and Boss-cake but I thought they might pee on the underside. Girl doggies might have better luck, but I know its been done.

I don't think there's a local Petsmart around where I live. I wonder if Petco would have them. She's extremely adorable by the way.
