Question... Pet Care in General.

I have to have Boss neutered, that is a given. We have a little issue. He has a cryptorchid testicle. That means he has one hiding out, somewhere, but not in his dangly bits. It is more expensive, for obvious reasons. A neuter at my vet is $91. Due to the CT that ups the price to $225.00. I have called around and inquired about prices and one I got was well over that amount, $300+. I also called my local Humane Society and they gave me a really good price. I don't want to sound cheap, but I have to be realistic. I know pets are a lot of care and money, fine, I accept this. I am taking care of this as I know its what is best for my little Boss-cake. My question to you all is, have you had any thing done for your pets at a Humane Society? How was the care? Were you pleased/displeased? Getting Boss fixed is for his health, I know the HS takes cares of many more animals than a regular vet might see. It is a standard procedure with a little twist, so I feel ok with that aspect of it as the HS is in the business of taking care of animals and they do neuters and spays all the time, all day, every day. That being said, I do trust my vet, but I also have to take into consideration I can save quite a bit of money going this route, which in the long run, goes back to my family. Please, please refrain from any nasty or negative comments. I am just gathering facts at this point. If you are gonna slam me for "price-shopping" or looking for a "more reasonable price", keep it to yourself.

I love, respect and look forward to seeing all the pups on this board, so I don't want to come off as bitchy. I am just asking for your opinions. I want Boss to be happy and healthy and I will do what I have to, even pay the $225, if my other options are just too scary. Let me know if any one has been here, done this.
