Hey everybody, just thought I'd ask about a weird behavior my puppy has. My mom is a vet and she says she has never seen a dog act like this before. Gir has a big fluffy pillow that he absolutely adores, so much so that he actually SUCKS on it. Not only that, he kneads at it like a cat. He's such a fetus. Has anybody ever seen something like this? i will try to get pictures of it because it's really adorable when he does it ;)

I am feeling: listlesslistless

Daisy does this all the time with her "squishies."

Because she tears up her soft toys, she didn't have any for about six months. For Christmas, we got her a new big fleecy bone-shaped squishy, and she immediately settled down and started suckling. I think she really missed doing it -- it's a comforting thing with her. She's started this high-pitched moaning now when she does it that would make us think she was in pain if she wasn't happily suckling her squishy.

actually, my fiance's parents american bulldog does that. we always assumed he's trying to replicate feeding from his mom? and he just turned two back in october. so chances are, this will stick with your dog.

anyhow. just wanted to comment that no, your dog isn't weird. well, either that, or we both have weird dogs. ;)

Jack does that all the time too with his "fluffy." And while I wouldn't classify him as normal (by any means) the actions are common. ;)

Rory can't go to sleep without sucking on a favorite toy or quilt or pillow. It's the cutest thing!

Both of ours do that. Rylee has a fleece cow and Jack has a fleece frog, and before bed every night they suck and knead on them until they fall asleep. It's definitely weird, but I think it's adorable.

Kermie has a "sucky"... we call it "soothing". I am on another BT board and about half of them do it too!

shoot, forgot to add, thats how Lola calms herself down. I know most dogs calm themselfs by chewing, but for her its sulking on the "bankies". At first we thought it was because she missed her puppymom, but it just seems thats how she calms herself.

Charlie does that with all his binkies....and unless he's SUPER tired, he can't go to bed without one.

Yep, my Griffin does it too. He'll do it with any and all of his stuffed toys. He sucks, kneads with his paws and softly whimpers. He's doing it right now, actually. I thought it was weird at first but it's totally cute! I took some pics of him sucking when he was smaller...
